NanoTech Lab offers PhD & MS in Electrical Engineering (RF/ Microwave & Photonics) in the following thematic areas:
  • Plasmonics & Metamaterials
  • Applied & Computational Electromagnetics
  • Micro/ Nano Sensors for HealthCare
  • III-V Semiconductor Devices
  • Optoelectronics & 2D Materials
  • RF, Microwave and Antenna Engineering

Eligibility Criteria:

For MS Electrical Engineering (with specialization in RF/ Microwave & Photonics):

Applicants must fulfill the following criteria in order to be considered for admission into the MS EE program at ITU:

  • Completion of at least 16 years of education
  • An undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, or any other related field, from an HEC recognized university. The undergraduate degree has to be recognized by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). This means that non-engineering degree holders (like BS Physics, Chemistry, Electronics etc., ) are NOT eligible. 
  • Scored at least 60% in the annual system, or CGPA of at least 2.5, in the relevant terminal degree
  • Scored at least 60% in the ITU Graduate Admissions Test
For PhD Electrical Engineering (with specialization in RF/ Microwave & Photonics):
  • Completion of at least 18 years of education (MS/MPhil/equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, or any other related field, from an HEC recognized university.
  • The undergraduate degree has to be recognized by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). This means that non-engineering undergraduate degree holders (like BS Physics, Chemistry, Electronics etc., ) are NOT eligible. 
  • Scored at least 70% in the annual system, or CGPA of at least 3.0, in the relevant terminal degree. Thesis work is mandatory.
  • Scored at least 70% in the ITU Graduate Admissions Test

Available Fellowships: 

1) Pre-Doctoral Fellowship for PhD Students: ITU has introduced the Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Program for all doctoral candidates enrolled in a full-time course of study at ITU. Each Pre-Doctoral Fellow will be given PKR 80,000 per monthAll applicants will be considered for this fellowship, you don’t need to apply for this fellowship separately. 
2) Graduate Student Fellowship for MS Students: These Fellowships may be offered to top Ten (10) students according to the MS Admission Merit List and meeting Graduate Student Fellowship criteria. A Graduate Student Fellow will be given a monthly stipend PKR 60000All applicants will be considered for this fellowship on merit, you don’t need to apply for this fellowship separately. 
3) HEC Project Based Scholarships for MS Students: We have three (03) additional MS Scholarships for existing or newly admitted students through HEC Technology Development Fund (TDF) project “Design And Development of Low-Cost and Safe Microwave Imaging
System For Early Breast Cancer Screening at GP Clinics And Hospitals”. This scholarship will offer a monthly stipend of 15,000 PKR. 
Note: You don’t need to apply for this scholarship at this stage.The admitted MS students who will be interested in this scholarship should contact Dr. Muhammad Zubair (muhammad.zubair@itu.edu.pk) after the final merit lists are displayed.

How to Apply?

Each year we consider applications for new admissions in Fall semester only. The application deadline is usually June/July and the classes start from September.
